Hi There.
I'm a fourth generation Texan, born in Austin and raised on a cattle ranch in Driftwood. I spent my childhood wrestling cows, breaking horses and baling hay. Although I was destined to become a ranch hand, I felt my passion was in art and design.
After graduating from Southern Methodist University, and then Art Center College of Design, I worked six years in San Francisco as a graphic designer and art director. I designed print catalogs for Design Within Reach and Dean & Deluca. I created brochures and trade show materials for General Motors and Goodyear Tires. I designed packaging for Elizabeth Arden Perfumes and Dreyer’s Ice Cream. And I created advertising and marketing for hp, Anheuser-Busch, the Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Ballet, and more.
Having gained experience, I moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where I created global advertising for clients such as Heineken, United Arab Emirates and Onitsuka Tiger. In my spare time, I tackled a gut renovation on a 1660s canal warehouse. When complete, it was featured in the Dutch interiors magazine, vt wonen, and multiple issues of Dwell.
Eventually, Texas called and I made my way back home to Austin. I continued taking on residential and commercial interior design projects. I collaborated with a local design studio on numerous restaurants and bars including Vixen’s Wedding, Wonder Bar, Tiki Tatsu-ya, Goodnight Loving Vodka and Taco Flats. I helped create custom tile, fabric, wallpaper, furniture, lighting and signage for every project.
As Austin grew, it was time to move out of the city. And in January of 2021, I launched Motherland Studio to provide practical and affordable design services to the rural communities of Texas.
